Lawnbright Weed Wipeout Application Guide

Weed Wipeout is a pre-emptive strike against crabgrass and other weeds in the early spring and late fall. It’s an organic, science-backed formula powered by hydrolyzed corn gluten. Weed Wipeout shuts down weed development before it sprouts, allowing you to avoid harsh, chemical-laden weed killers or the back breaking work of pulling weeds from your lawn.

Weed Wipeout is USDA organic program compliant.

When to Apply:

Apply Weed Wipeout in the early spring, before crabgrass and other weeds begin to sprout, or in the fall as temperatures are falling. Apply when soil temperatures are between 55 and 60°F for best results.

As a pre-emergent, Weed Wipeout will not kill weeds that have already sprouted. Instead, it focuses on blocking them from growing.

How to Apply:

  1. Shake the bottle well and then remove the cap.

  2. Insert the spray top, straw side down into the bottle.

  3. Attach the bottle to your hose on the other end of the sprayer top. Turn the hose on and the plastic dial to “on.”

  4. Spray evenly across your lawn until the bottle is empty, following product instructions.

  5. Apply every two months during the growing season for maximum effectiveness.

Tips:

  • Soil temperatures are very important for the application of Weed Wipeout. Apply when soil temperatures are between 55 and 60°F to be most effective.

  • When you apply Weed Wipeout in the spring, you are going to reduce the crabgrass and weeds you will see sprout in your lawn during the spring season. When you apply Weed Wipeout in the fall, grass is taking nutrients deep into the roots, so it can help prevent weeds for the following spring.

FAQs:

What is Weed Wipeout? How does Weed Wipeout work?

Weed Wipeout is an organic pre-emergent that stops weeds before they start growing. It uses corn gluten to create a natural barrier that interrupts the weeds’ growth and prevents weed seeds from germinating. Weed Wipeout stops crabgrass and over 20 other weeds from growing and is safe for kids and pets - it’s all natural and organic.

What weeds does Weed Wipeout work on?

Dandelions, Barnyardgrass, Curly Dock, Green Foxtail, Orchardgrass, Shattercane, Purslane, Wooly Cupgrass, Foxtail, Lamb's Quarters, Buckhorn Plantain, Quackgrass, Crabgrass, Velvetleaf, Annual Bluegrass, Creeping Bentgrass, Black Nightshade, Black Medic, Redroot Pigweed, Catchweed Bedstraw, Clover.

What do I do if weeds are already growing on my lawn?

Weed Wipeout can still be effective in preventing future weeds, but if you are already seeing weeds, you may have passed the ideal window for pre-emergent. You can use a natural post-emergent to target weeds, or hand pull them. You can also work on growing healthier turf and overseeding if you can. A healthy turf helps to crowd out weeds.

I applied Weed Wipeout, but I still see some weeds. What gives?

While Weed Wipeout helps to reduce the growth of future weeds, it will not eliminate them completely. That’s nature for you! That said, if you are seeing a lot of weed growth, you may have missed the ideal window for pre-emergent. Continuing to apply Weed Wipeout every two months during the growing season, and focusing on overseeding and crowding out weeds with healthy turf in the fall, will eliminate weeds in the long term.

What size lawn does a bottle of Weed Wipeout cover?

Each bottle covers about 1,500 square feet - about half the size of a tennis court. For reference, a 5,500 square foot lawn is about the size of a basketball court. This measurement does not include your house or landscaping features - just determine your lawn size by the amount of turf you are treating.
