Lawnbright Soil Test Kit Usage Guide

Lawnbright’s Soil Test Kit gives you a comprehensive reading of the nutrients in your turf in order to better inform the products you should use on your lawn. All Lawnbright custom plans receive a free soil test kit, but you can buy a separate soil test kit and receive the results electronically without purchasing a plan. The detailed report will outline 10 key nutrient levels, including pH, organic matter, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, calcium CEC, manganese and saturation levels.

How to Use:

  1. Take a few scoops of dirt from areas around your yard to fill the provided bag.

  2. Mail the soil sample back to us using the prepaid mailer.

  3. You’ll receive a detailed report via email.

  4. If you choose to purchase a custom plan, we’ll apply the cost of your soil kit to your plan. Simply email us at [email protected] to claim your credit.

Tips:

  • Where possible, take a soil test kit prior to applying products to your lawn (as they can show up in the testing).

  • Get soil samples from different areas of your lawn for the most accurate results.

FAQs:

Why is doing a soil test important for my lawn care routine?

Doing a soil test allows you to read out what your lawn actually needs. Grass health is dependent on soil chemistry, so understanding the exact nutrients that your lawn has and is deficient in allows you to tune into a precise lawn care plan that gives your lawn what it needs. It also reduces waste and nutrient runoff into waterways, since you’re not giving the lawn an overdose on nutrients it already has.

How long does it take to get my results?

Typically you’ll receive results within 2 weeks of sending in your test kit.

What package service do I need to use to send back my test kit?

We use the US Postal Service. Your test kit came with a prepaid mailer - just pack it up, drop it in the mail and you’re all set. No additional postage is required.

Do I need to fill out any forms or write anything on my test kit?

Nope! We’ve taken care of all of that and your kit is automatically linked to your account. Just be sure to put your soil sample in the mailer we have provided and you are all set!

What do I do with the results of my soil test?

Your soil test provides you with the nutrient levels in your soil currently and will help you decide which products you should be using in order to better balance your soil for healthier turf. It’s also what we at Lawnbright use to develop our custom lawn plans for customers. If you’d like us to create a custom plan for you, you can order a plan here. The cost of your soil test will be applied to your plan, so be sure to email us at [email protected] in order to get your credit!

How often should I do a soil test?

It’s great to test your soil ever 2-3 years to check on progress and tweak your plan. If your lawn is new or struggling, or you have massive imbalances, you may want to take tests more often.
